Laundry Room Counter Top

Almost ready to install the new counter top. I have a few more coats of finish to go and some hand rubbing to do.

Here was the dry fit up

I cheated a little and used some biscuit joints for alignment during glue up.

Just a few more coats to go. The grain is really starting to pop!

Pre counter top.

Bryan's 30 Years Old!

We celebrated Bryan's 30th birthday this week, and I surprised him with a super cool cake. Tree stump base, hiking boots, and a red Wylie leash:) If you would like cake....please come to our house now! We have too much!

Disclaimer: I did NOT make this cake

Colorado Camping Trip Post #6 - Whitestar Campground

Well this is it. The last and final post of the camping trip. Read it slow...soak it up....cause I might not be posting for a LONG time now:)
The last day of the trip we stopped in Buena Vista to go white water rafting. I was pretty nervous about going, so Bryan and I somehow convinced Judy to go. It was a lot of FUN, but the main part of the rafting trip I remember was the smell of the wetsuits we had to wear. I feel nauseous even writing about it. But...it was still FUN. I don't know how many times I expected to see Bryan swept away by the rapids as I was being bounced into the middle of the raft. We all survived. No one fell out of the boat, or suffered a strange skin infection from the wet suits. Here's us at lunch before the rafting trip.

The final campground we stayed at was the Whitestar campground near Twin Lakes. It was unlike any of the other campgrounds and almost looked desert-like. We ended the night with our last campfire and s'mores.
And I'll end with a picture of Wylie...looking quite ready to go home.

Colorado Camping Trip Post #5 - Collegiate Peaks Campground

I'm running out of steam with all these posts. I've probably blogged more about this trip than I did all of last year! But hopefully you find the pictures entertaining:)

Our second to last stop was the Collegiate Peaks campground, but to get there we had quite a drive. First we had to drive around the Taylor Reservoir, which was very close to Harmel's. The whole time I kept asking Bryan "Have you been here before?" After the millionth time of me questioning him, he snapped back "Stop asking me that. YES...I've been here before!" Haha. It was just hard to imagine how he was able to spend an entire summer out there, and I barely even remember hearing one single thing about the beautiful scenery. So below is the beautiful view from the Taylor Reservoir. The next part of the drive was the Cottonwood pass. Lots of winding switchbacks and again...beautiful views! Here's Gary snapping up some of the mountain views. Owen is almost camouflaged in the picture. Can you find him?? Wylie was reunited with his all-time favorite thing...SNOW! Here's Bryan at the top of the pass, sending some water to both oceans. Or something like that. Made it to Collegiate Peaks to set up camp. I will confess...I barely left the camper that night. Too much rain and Judy and I became addicted to bananagrams:)
It was a nicely wooded campground with a roaring river and wildlife. Bryan claimed "Picture of the Year" with this shot. Not bad...

Colorado Camping Trip Post #4 - One Mile Campground

Onward to One Mile Campground! But first we had to endure the Kebler Pass @ 10,000ft and follow this annoyingly sloooow camper the whole way:) Haha.

However, driving slow had its benefits. We were able to stop and get some great scenic shots of the aspen forests. One of my favorite parts of the trip.

Those people in that camper even stopped to take our picture several times!

And then we took their picture in Crested Butte.

One Mile Campground was just past Harmel's Ranch, where Bryan spent the summer before senior year in college. The picture is slightly blurry. Apparently, Bryan had no desire to stop and be nostalgic.
Bryan and Gary spent the morning fly fishing along the Taylor River. Judy and I hung back and enjoyed the Keurig coffee. Gotta love electricity!

Colorado Camping Trip Post #3 - Redstone Campground

Next stop...Redstone campground. This marked the day I officially camped for 4 days WITHOUT a shower. Amazing, I know. And Redstone just happened to have the BEST showers on a campground I have ever seen. It was like my own personal shower suite. But besides the showers, the view was amazing! Surrounded by red rock!

We did a lot of this on the trip. Park. Unpack chairs. Sit. Soak up our surroundings:)

We took a short hike that afternoon to checkout the river. Wylie took the opportunity to take his first swim in river. This freaked Judy (and me too) out a lot when Wylie would chase a stick in the current. There were several times we thought he might get swept away. He still managed to have fun though!
And we posed for a family picture:)

Then it RAINED. But it was quite pleasant to have a REAL roof over our heads!

After the rain cleared, there was a eerie mist hanging over the red rock.

During the downpour, Gary braved the elements to cook us up some steaks. Delicious!

Colorado Camping Trip Post #2 - Molly B Campground @ the Ruedi Reservoir

I'm back. This blogging multiple posts of our camping trip is not working out so well for me. This is a lot of work! But I will do my best to keep up with it. There's just so much to share...5 campgrounds in 7 days!
Here's a few shots of campground #1...the Molly B campground on the Ruedi Reservoir. We spent 3 nights here, which included the weekend of the 4th.
On the second day camping, the guys decided it was the perfect day to do our overnight back packing trip to the Savage Lakes. Nothing like getting thrown into this whole camping thing. At least this time I didn't leave home with out my peanut butter! Wylie was happy during the hike up to the lakes. Nothing like snow in July!

We soon realized that all that SNOW would prevent us from making it to the lakes, since the trail was impossible to find. Fellow hikers mentioned that the snow at the lakes was 5 feet deep in some places and would be impossible to camp. So sadly (or happily for some!) we decided to head back down and call it a good effort. I really was actually kind of bummed I didn't get to experience the overnight camping part of the trip, but some what happy I didn't have to deal with the whole bathroom thing. I'm such a girl:)
Here are a few shots of the remaining hike...

Our last full day at Molly B, Bryan and Gary got out the fly fishing gear on the Frying Pan river at the base of the reservoir. They never caught anything, but I got a few good shots. The water was freeeeeeezing.
